On May 31, 1966 filming began on The Monkees’ first TV series. The Monkees’ first single Last Train to Clarksville was released weeks prior to the broadcast debut of their TV series. In conjunction with the first broadcast of the television show on NBC, Columbia and the NBC network had a major hit on their hands.
