The Visa credit card system crashed Monday afternoon, leaving Canadians to rummage for cash.
The system is back up and running now.
Royal Bank of Canada and TD Canada Trust said their customers were among those affected by a nationwide Visa outage.
A recorded voice at CIBC said “The issue is being investigated and we hope to resolve the problem as soon as possible.”
TD Canada Trust tweeted “Visa is experiencing issues nationwide, not just TD. They are working hard on a resolution, stay tuned for updates.”
Many credit card users across the country took to social media to complain that their cards were being declined when they tried to use them.
