Republicans still say raising taxes on the wealthiest Americans is a non-starter.

But President Obama says he won’t accept any approach to deficit reduction that doesn’t ask the wealthy to pay more.

The two sides are laying out their positions, ahead of talks aimed at avoiding tax hikes and automatic spending cuts in January.
