The numbers are startling. Nearly two-thirds of Canadians over the age of 65 take at least five prescription drugs on a daily basis – and now a new study from the Canadian Institute of Health Research has found that roughly 25% of Canadian seniors are doing so unnecessarily. This could create a number of health risks. Jane is joined by CIHR Scientific Director Dr. Cara Tannenbaum to find out more.
Plus – it’s the time of year when many people like to give back, but people aren’t the only ones volunteering their time to help. Therapeutic pets can play an important role in both the physical and mental health of aging Zoomers. Jane talks to Leslie Jack of St. John Ambulance to learn more.
