‘The Vintage Year – 1949’ – was eventful in Canada:  Newfoundland became our 10th province, we were a founding member of NATO, and Toronto’s Maple Leafs became the first team to ever win 3 Stanley Cups in a row.  The Red Scare frightened Hollywood, and the first ever Emmy Awards were handed out.
