TOPIC – All Ontario hospitals facing cuts, services contracted out to private clinics.
INFO – Natalie Mehra, executive director of the Ontario Health Coalition come into your studios to speak about the threat that all community hospitals are facing in Ontario – losing services that are being contracted out to private clinics because of new government regulations.
Over the past month, volunteers in communities across Ontario staged a mock referendum: going door-to-door, distributing more than 400,000 leaflets and 300,000 postcards. The momentum built as more and more volunteers joined in to hold voting stations in local farmers markets, businesses, churches and other faith organizations, legions, service clubs and malls. More than 200 workplace votes were held in auto plants, manufacturing companies, hospitals, schools and many more. This was a massive province-wide campaign that called on citizens to have their say and vote on whether they want private clinics and the results were staggering.
