GUEST – Bruce McClure, home inspector & author
TOPIC – Licensing of home inspectors and Hydro Voltage Regulations.
INFO – In 2013 the Department of Consumer Services formed a committee and embarked on a Study entitled “Qualifying Ontario Home Inspectors”. Said Study, was posted to the Ministries web-site on Dec. 13th 2013 requesting public input by Jan. 27th 2014. Being that here was no public announcement of said study and the fact that it was released over the Christmas period leaves speculation that the Government doesn’t really want any attention brought to this matter.
GUEST – Dr. Zach, GFB House Doctor, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Medicine at McGill University
TOPIC – Medical (and recreational) marijuana
INFO – Marijuana has been around for many years and is familiar to many people as a recreational drug. Recently it has started to be used to treat medical illnesses, most commonly to treat the nausea, loss of appetite, and pain associated with cancer and HIV/AIDS. And there is suggestion that it may be effective for other health problems, including epilepsy and inflammatory conditions. The two big questions are: is it effective? and is it safe? We will look at the current evidence available for whether marijuana should be used medically.
