TOPIC – Seniors financial literacy
INFO – November is ‘financial literacy month’ in Canada. This month allows for the opportunity by agencies, organizations & governmental bodies around the country to promote greater awareness & education on financial products/services for Canadian consumers. For police, we concentrate on the criminal aspect, of course, relating to such things: frauds, scams, theft by Power of Attorney, etc. Many older women, in particular, are quite vulnerable to being taken advantage of through their general lack of financial savvy.
GUEST – Douglas Melville, The Ombudsman for Banking Services and Investments
