GUEST – Operation Christmas Child Director Randy Crosson, Samaritan’s Purse Canada

TOPIC – Samaritan’s Purse Canada & school boards not allowing students to participate in packing boxes.

INFO – This organization came up in conversation on our radio program. We have had a few listeners telling us about the good work they do for underprivileged children around the world. We also had a few callers concerned about various school boards not allowing students to participate in packing boxes.

We are looking for comment on this and will find out more about the services Samaritan’s Purse Canada provides to children in challenged situations.

Operation Christmas Child brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes and the message of God’s unconditional love.
Samaritan’s Purse Canada is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization that has been providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world since 1970. SamaritansPurse.ca.

GUEST – Charles Sousa

TOPIC – His announcement and bid for the Ontario Liberal Party Leadership.

INFO – Charles grew up in Mississauga where he lives with his wife Zenny and their three children. Charles has built strong ties with his local community through his involvement in many charities and community groups, including the Credit Valley Hospital Foundation, the Rainbow Ball Foundation and the Mississauga Food Bank.

He earned a B.A. (Hons.) in Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University and an Executive M.B.A. from the Richard Ivey School of Business. After graduating, Charles began his career in the private sector by starting and operating his own small business.

He then worked at Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) Financial Group for more than 20 years. Charles started working at a local branch and ended up in the commercial banking division where he spearheaded the bank’s first Corporate Social Responsibility policy.

In 2007, Charles left his successful career at the bank to give back to his community and his province by running as the Ontario Liberal Party candidate in Mississauga South. He won the traditionally Tory seat, and then won it again with an increased plurality in the 2011 general election.

During his time in government, Charles has ushered in stronger protections for Ontario workers as Minister of Labour, charted a new course for immigration to Ontario as Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, and helped start new infrastructure in communities across Ontario as Minister Responsible for the 2015 Pan and Parapan Am Games.

Charles’ vision for Ontario is a place where everyone has an opportunity to work, compete, learn and help each other. He is focussed on creating jobs and will take decisive action to get things done. Click here for infromation.
