IS DR. THERESA TAM’S MESSAGING RESONATING WITH THE PUBLIC? SEPTEMBER 8 2020

Jane Brown is filling in for Libby Znaimer today. She is joined by Dr. Alon Vaisman, Epidemiologist at the University Health Network (UHN) and Dr. Raywat Deonandan, Epidemiologist and Associate Professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences at University of Ottawa.

Confirmed COVID-19 cases in the province are steadily climbing, students and educators are returning back to school and Flu season is around the corner. As we continue to navigate the uncertainty of this pandemic, we rely on the public safety messaging of our public health officials and epidemiologists. Dr. Theresa Tam has been playing a vital role in this regard. She has been expressing concern over the spike in confirmed cases and has cautioned Canadians to be more vigilant especially now that the weather is getting colder and people are going to be spending more time indoors and closer to each other as a result. So, has her public safety messaging resonated with the public? And, what can we expect as our schools reopen? Jane and our reassuring health experts put things in perspective.
