How do we stop online extremism? Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is in Paris attending the Christchurch Call meeting convened by New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, who is co-chairing with French President Emmanuel Macron. It is expected to cite the massacre of 51 Muslim worshipers in two New Zealand mosques in March as part of the push for a sweeping agreement to combat terrorist content disseminated on social media. Here at home just this week, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice awarded $2.5 million in damages to Mohammed Fakih the owner of the Paramount chain of Middle Eastern restaurants for defamation over a series of videos and online posts made by Kevin Johnston, some on his website Freedom Report, starting in July 2017. And of course there is plenty of online hate aimed Jews and other groups. Is this the right way to seek a solution? Libby speaks with Ross Maclean and Phil Gurski.
