Providing beds for the homeless in the extreme cold continues to be an issue in Toronto with complaints there are not enough to go around for those who need them. One Toronto resident who is trying to make a difference in helping the homeless is Jennifer Evans. She’s been arranging hotel rooms for some of the vulnerable. A petition on change.org has also been started online with over 35 thousand signatures so far demanding the city open the armouries for the homeless during the extreme cold we’ve been experiencing. Councillor Kristyn-Wong-Tam is using social media to call for the city to take further action. We spoke to Jennifer Evans and Councillor Kristyn Wong-Tam about the issue.
