York Region voted on a proposal to allow stores to open on all statutory holidays except Christmas. The argument of course is that it should be up to retailers and shoppers when they want to do business and that with the popularity of online shopping it’s not fair to force them to close. The other side says it’s only fair to give retail workers the same time off as everyone else. We spoke with John C. Williams, Senior Partner, Strategy and New Concepts, JC Williams Group and John Kiru, Executive Director of Toronto Association of Business Improvement Areas about it.
