Ontario’s first ever Patient Ombudsman delivered her first annual report today. Christine Elliott says the report will outline the fears expressed by many patients, their families and caregivers that they could face reprisals if they file a complaint with her office. The Ombudsman received about 2,000 complaints between 2016 and 2017, and almost two-thirds of them were related to Ontario hospitals. We spoke with Patient Ombudsman Christine Elliot about her findings.
