Ontario may have a law that cracks down on texting and walking if Etobicoke Liberal MPP Yvan Baker has his way. Baker says people are so addicted to their smartphones, they’re putting lives as risk, so he’s introducing a private members bill this morning at Queen’s park calling for a ban on pedestrians using electronic devices while crossing the street. “The Phones Down, Heads up Act” carries a 50 dollar fine for first offenders up to 125 is caught a third time. We spoke with Maureen Coyle, a Gerontologist and member of the steering committee for Walk Toronto and Etobicoke Liberal MPP Yvan Baker.
