The newly released census reveals some trends for Zoomers and their families. Grandparents have increasingly become the primary caregivers for their grandchildren by 30 percent, and most of these caregivers are single females with limited incomes. This means there is a greater need for support systems to be put in place for them. As well, more Zoomer aged people have moved back into their parent’s homes and when it comes to romantic relationships, the trend referred to as “Living Apart Together” this means that couples are in a committed relationship, but choose to live in their own homes for a number of reasons. We speak with experts Doug Norris, Chief Demographer and Senior Vice President of Environics Analytics Group Ltd. and Betty Cornelius, Founder of Cangrands, a non-profit National Kinship Support Group.
