The Military has released a disturbing report, this week, detailing the horrific conditions at long-term care homes in the province. Cockroaches, residents being left in soiled diapers, and rotten food. These are just some of the findings of the report. The leader of the official opposition, Andrea Horwath, said in a tweet yesterday, “Mr. Ford has no choice but to take responsibility, be accountable and require the resignation of Merrilee Fullerton, Minister of Long Term Care”. In response to the report, The Ford government announced it would be dispatching Ministry of Long Term Care inspectors into nursing homes to investigate the findings from the Military. But, many questions remain: who should be held accountable for this disaster? How many years has this gone on for and what will it take to reform the system?
