Libby Znaimer is joined by Ann Cavoukian, Executive Director of Global Privacy & Security by Design Centre and formerly Ontario’s Privacy Commissioner and Technology analyst and journalist, Carmi Levy.

The troubling news came out yesterday: LifeLabs has been the target of a major data breach, leaving 15 million Canadians’ data vulnerable to cyber criminals. The type of data includes health card numbers, lab results, addresses, passwords and more.

CEO Charles Brown has since apologized. All of this leads to the key question: what steps should private companies be taking in order to protect the privacy of their customers? And, what can we, as customers, do to protect ourselves from data breaches.
