There is more fallout from the apology and legal settlement between the federal government and Omar Khadr. Tabitha Speer’s lawyer has motioned for a freeze on Omar Khadr’s bank accounts after he was awarded $10.5 M in compensation for being detained and interrogated at Guantanamo Bay. Speer’s husband Christopher was killed in a firefight with Omar Khadr and others in Afghanistan in 2002. There is also a new study out from Angus Reid saying that more than 70% of Canadians think the federal government shouldn’t have settled out of court with Omar Khadr.
