You may remember Zoomer radio breaking the tragic news of 86 year old James Acker, who was beaten in his room by a fellow resident at St. Joseph’s Villa Long Term Care home in Dundas, Ontario. Today, at the Ontario Legislature the NDP Senior’s and long term care critic plans to stand up during question period and ask the governing Liberals about long term care safety and will highlight the assault of James Acker, who has dementia. MPP Teresa Armstrong will also speak to the media after question period. We catch up with Acker’s daughter, Tammy Carbino to find out how she and her family are coping, and we also speak with Jane Meadus, who is the Lawyer for the Advocacy Centre for the Elderly.
