It’s a move that many will see as more wasteful spending by the Ontario Liberal government. Managers, executives and deputy ministers in the provincial civil service will be getting pay hikes of up to 35%. $125 Million has been earmarked for pay raises over the next four years. There has been a pay freeze in the civil service for the past 5 years, and Treasury Board Liz Sandals says the money is needed to keep “highly skilled and talented in public life.” Christine Van Geyn – the Ontario Director for the Canadian Taxpayers Federation joins us to talk about it.
