The province has shut down the PSW registry claiming it was failing to conduct sufficient background checks – like vetting criminal and education records of its 30,000 members. The registry was run by the Ontario Community Support Association, but the not-for-profit CEO Deborah Simon says they just couldn’t realistically meet the deadlines demanded by the province.
