The Daily Bread Food bank has just released its newest report on hunger in Toronto. The good news is there has been improvement made over the last decade in income support for children, but it’s bad news for Zoomers. The Who’s Hungry report states that adults over age 45 are the fastest growing group of food bank users in the city, making up more than one-third of 905,970 visits in 2015-16. The reason? Many Zoomers are having difficulty re-entering the work force, live with disabilities or illness and are forced to rely on social assistance while struggling with the continuing rise in the cost of living. Libby will be joined by the Daily Bread Food Bank executive director Gail Nyberg and CARP’s VP of Advocacy Wanda Morris to discuss this concerning trend and we’ll be taking your calls.
