On this episode of Finding Your Bliss, is fashionista and entrepreneur Dawn Librach. She is the owner and creator of Rewind, one of Toronto’s premiere stores for high-end vintage and designer resale. Dawn Librach opened Rewind in 2014, after graduating from Ryerson University’s Entrepreneurship program. With a love for fashion, and a great sense of style, Dawn was also an avid shopper in Toronto, and she saw a niche in the market for a different approach to designer resale. Rather than doing consignment, Dawn will take your gently used and designer goods and pay you for the garments right there on the spot. She handpicks every piece of clothing, shoes, purses, and accessories for Rewind, making the boutique a highly curated environment.
Not to mention, it is a gorgeous store aesthetically and was actually designed by Dawn’s mother, Heather Librach, who is not only the Head of Merchandising at Rewind, but she is also an interior designer. Dawn says everything she knows, she learnt from her mother, as Heather also used to be a buyer at the high end department store in Toronto.
They both are on Finding Your Bliss on the program to talk about this bliss story, which is also a great success story of entrepreneurship, following your dreams, and taking all of your talents and combining them to find your passion. It’s not surprising that Rewind has been featured in the North Toronto Post as the best vintage and consignment store in Toronto. Rewind was also just recommended in Toronto Life Magazine in their indispensable guide to great style in the city, as one of the top boutiques to shop at in Toronto.
Our Featured Artist this week is Jazz singer Caity Gyorgy, who is an uber talented Toronto and Montreal based vocalist, who is known for singing bebop and swing music. Being called one of Jazz FM91’s “8 Canadian Women in Jazz You Need to Know,” Caity performs regularly at both public and private events all across Canada.
Some of her most notable performances include the Toronto Jazz Festival, the Calgary Jazz Festival, the TU Jazz Festival, the Brampton World of Jazz Festival, singing backup for Natalie MacMaster, and the Calgary Stampede Talent Search (where she became the Grand Champion back in 2019.)
Caity also runs an Instagram account entitled “@Liftaday” where she has gained global recognition from her transcription videos that are absolutely brilliant and are viewed daily by thousands of people. She has posted over 160 videos since 2018.
Caity plays most frequently with her group the “Caity Gyorgy Quartet”. With this group, she creates hip arrangements of jazz standards to keep them modern and fresh, while still swinging. She also composes original music in the style of standard jazz repertoire, as well as the great jazz composers of the 50s and 60s.
Her arrangements and compositions often feature her own vocal improvisation, which sets her apart from other jazz singers. She has released one EP, several singles and her debut album “No Bounds”, that features guitarist Jocelyn Gould, and it was just released this past January 22nd, 2021. Her recorded music has been played on radio stations across the globe and she has been featured on multiple Spotify Editorial Playlists including “Jazz X-Press”, “Vocal Jazz”, “Chilled Jazz”, and “Jazz Tranquilo”.
