TUNE INTO THE TOWN: TORONTO SEES MORE VIOLENCE AND CARJACKINGS

Libby is joined by our new Tune Into the Town Panel with  Lauren O’Neil, Senior News Editor of BlogTO, Karen Stintz, CEO, Variety Village, and David Crombie, Former Mayor of Toronto.

Today: the panel discusses the recent uptick in violence in Toronto including people shooting fireworks at each other and gun-related shootings that took place by Woodbine beach over the long weekend. The city is also experiencing a trend of carjackings taking place ( Toronto Police are investigating 4 carjacking cases during the span of two hours in Scarborough). Meanwhile, the panel weighs in on another Toronto trend that’s been a problem for drivers and residents for years: city-wide construction. Finally, we look to another City, Vancouver, where Canada Soccer cancelled an upcoming friendly match with the Iran national Soccer team after facing backlash. Vancouver’s mayor was critical of the game happening in the first place.

ONTARIO MPP CANDIDATE SIGNS BEING DEFACED AND REMOVED

Libby is joined by NDP Candidate Neethan Shan (for Scarborough Centre) and Green candidate Krystal Brooks (for Simcoe North) to discuss another trend: this time with provincial politics. As the Ontario election campaign continues, some candidates for MPP have been seeing their campaign signs vandalized and others have seen them go missing. Liberal Candidate Mitzie Hunter, for example, saw her campaign signs covered in graffiti with offensive phrases. Krystal’s signs were also defaced. Neethan, on the other hand, saw as many as 500 campaign signs go missing in the last 7 days! So, why is this happening? And, here’s why it is important?

THE FINAL STRETCH OF THE ONTARIO ELECTION CAMPAIGN

Libby is joined by Erin Kelly, CEO, Advanced Symbolics Inc. and John Mykytyshyn Conservative strategist and President of Bradgate Research Group.

We’re in the final stretch of the provincial election campaign. But, are voters really engaged in this election cycle?
