Libby Znaimer is joined by Dr. Kevin Smith, CEO of the University Health Network, Dr. David Jacobs, President of the Ontario Association of Radiologists and Dr. Peter Ferguson, who is the Albert and Temmy Latner Chair in the division of Orthopaedic Surgery and a professor in the department of surgery at the University of Toronto followed by NDP MPP and Health Critic, France Gélinas of Nickel-Belt.

Yesterday, Ontario announced that it would be investing upwards of $324-million for hospitals to help alleviate surgery backlogs, and to support MRI and CT scanning services. According to the press release from the province, this initiative will allow for our health care system to perform up to an additional 67,000 surgeries and up to 135,000 more diagnostic imaging hours. But, is this funding really enough to address the province’s substantial backlog in much needed medical procedures?
