The world’s first jukebox was installed at the Palais Royale Saloon in San Francisco. Louis Glass, the entrepreneur who installed the jukebox originally called it a “nickel-in-the-slot-player.”

Four people were able to listen to music at the same time through stethescope-like tubes that were fitted to the phonograph.
