On December 17th, 1963 James Carroll, a DJ in Washington for the station WWDC was the first to broadcast a Beatles album on an American radio station. He played their single I Want To Hold Your Hand, which he had got from his girlfriend who had brought the single back from her trip to the UK.
The song was in high demand from listeners and the song was played every hour, every day. Since the single hadn’t been released in the US yet, Capitol Records considered filing a lawsuit, but instead decided to release the single earlier than they had initially intended to.
