On November 19th, Carl Perkins was in the studio recording a new single. At Sun Studios in Memphis, Perkins recorded Blue Suede Shoes/ The rock and roll classic became a No.2 hit on the US charts and went on to be covered by many popular artists including Elvis Presley and John Lennon.
