On April 9th 1988, American songwriter and singer Brook Benton died.Brook Benton was 56 when he passed away, with many proud achievements under his belt.

He had over 20 US top 40 singles in the late 1950s and early 1960’s. Some of his well-known hits include “It’s Just A Matter of Time” and “Endlessly”. He fell off the charts for a bit but made a huge comeback with his hit “Rainy Night In Georgia” which made it to No.4 on the US charts in 1974.
