American singer Bobby Darin died at the age of 37. One of the first teen idols, he had the 1959 No.1 with ‘Dream Lover’ plus 20 other US Top 40 hits during the 60′s. Darin was close to Robert F. Kennedy and worked on his 1968 presidential campaign. Steve Blauner, Darin’s manager, discussed Darin’s relationship with RFK on the PBS special Bobby Darin:Beyond The Song:
“Bobby was very close to Bobby Kennedy, he campaigned for him, in fact they were up in Seattle right before he was killed, on the plane and Bobby (RFK) would come over to him and say, ‘Sing my favorite song’….it was ‘Blowin’ In The Wind’… and Bobby (Darin) would take out his guitar and play it.”
