Jim Yester, guitarist and vocalist for The Association was born on this day.

The Californian sunshine pop band opened The Monterey Pop Festivalwith their hit “Along Comes Mary.” Lead guitarist Jules Alexander heard the song while playing on the demo as a session musician. He convinced the song writer Tandyn Almer to allow The Association to record it first. Their version was produced by Curt Boettcher and went Number one in the US.
