Brian Hyland went to No. 1 with the summer hit ‘Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini.’ The song was inspired by Paul Vance’s two-year-old daughter’s cavorting on the beach in her own yellow polka dot bikini. Vance teamed up with Lee Pockriss, completed the song and recorded a demo of it with a female singer.

Singer Brian Hyland was a 16-year-old student at Franklin K. Lane High School in Brooklyn who had just been signed to Kapp Records.
