The Ford government’s unveiled design plans for a memorial at Queen’s Park that will honour veterans who served in Afghanistan.
(Province of Ontario)
It’ll be located on the south lawn of the legislative building near the existing Ontario Veterans’ Memorial.
One of the prominent features is a stone from an Inukshuk created by Canadian soldiers at the Kandahar Airfield.
During the unveiling Premier Doug Ford said the memorial ”will help future generations remember Canada’s role in the war in Afghanistan and the 158 Canadian soldiers who sacrified everything for our country.”
The province plans to have the monument ready for Remembrance Day in 2020.
