The latest numbers released by the province show more long term care homes are dealing with COVID-19 outbreaks than the peak of the first wave in the spring.

On Sunday, another 19 homes reported outbreaks meaning 207 homes are currently struggling under the virus affecting residents and staff.

That’s about a third of the ltc’s in the province being in outbreak situations.

The vast majority of the province’s deaths from the ongoing pandemic have been in long term care settings.

More and more advocates have been calling on the province to ask for help from the Canadian Armed Forces to provide support to already taxed long term care staff–many being shorthanded with colleagues isolating after testing positive.

So far in the second wave, the Ford government has resisted those calls.
