Toronto moves into the red control tier of the province’s COVID-19 restrictions at midnight tonight.
Toronto public health has added some extra restrictions on top of the provincial guidelines.
Under the restrictions in the “red control” tier, some indoor dining would be allowed, as would some fitness classes. Toronto’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Eileen de Villa has said those can’t happen until mid-December at the earliest.
The red tier is the second harshest of the categories, just above a full lockdown but there are fewer restrictions than the previous “modified stage 2” that Toronto fell under until today.
Toronto Mayor John Tory is urging people do everything they can to limit the spread of COVID-19. He says people should just stay home except in the most essential circumstances.
