The union, representing public sector workers in Ontario, says the OPP should look into pandemic-related deaths in private-for-profit long-term care homes.

Ontario Public Service Employees Union President Warren ”Smokey” Thomas believes Doug ford should call on police to investigate.

”Maybe it will take someone going to jail to end this carnage,” says Thomas.

Meanwhile, the OPSEU leader is also offering the government the union’s help in preventing more deaths.

”I’m calling on the Premier to establish an expert panel of front-line workers so he can finally start learning the truth about what’s really going wrong in our long-term care homes.”

Thomas adds if Doug Ford does not take up the offer, OPSEU will look into setting up a workers’ panel and report those findings as quickly as possible.

Currently, there are outbreaks in 94 long-term care homes with 695 active cases among residents and 435 among staff.
