91 ONTARIO LONG TERM CARE HOMES IN SECOND WAVE OUTBREAKS, WITH 7 NEW RELATED DEATHS RECORDED SUNDAY

Of Sunday’s thirteen COVID-19 related deaths in Ontario, seven of them were long term care home residents.
As of Sunday morning, 91 long term care homes in Ontario are in COVID-19 second wave outbreaks. The total number of residents currently diagnosed as having COVID-19 is 604 with 374 active cases among nursing home staff.

Long term care homes in Ontario have been especially hard hit by the virus with 1966 related deaths among residents in this province.
CARP – A New Vision of Aging – has been calling for urgent action to protect elderly residents of long term care.
Specifically, CARP members are calling for a commitment from governments to eradicate the systemic vulnerabilities exposed by COVID-19 which threaten residents in long term care.
