The Ford government’s taking the first step towards building three long-term care facilities by making land available in Aurora, Vaughan and Oakville.
It’s selling surplus properties on the condition nursing homes be built on parts of land at 165 Dundas Street West in Oakville, 7231 Martin Grove Road in Vaughan and 50-100 Bloomington Road in Aurora.
The homes would feature 512 long-term care beds in Oakville, 256 in Vaughan and 128 in Aurora.
These facilities will help the government deliver on its promise to create 30,000 beds over 10 years.
As of June, over 38,500 are on the long-term care waitlist.
