Saying the first presidential face-off between Donald Trump and Joe Biden ”made clear that additional structure should be added to the format of the remaining debates to ensure a more orderly discussion,” the Commission on Presidential Debates says it’ll soon adopt changes to avoid a repeat of Tuesday night.
One possibility being contemplated is to give the moderator the ability to cut off the microphone of one them, while the other’s talking.
Trump’s re-election campaign is against any changes, claiming the commission is trying to help Biden, saying it shouldn’t be ”moving the goalposts and changing the rules in the middle of the game.”
The moderator in the first debate struggled to gain control due to frequent interruptions; mostly by Trump.
The Washington Post reports 71 of the 90 were by Trump.
The next presidential debate is October 15.
