For the first time in nearly 100 years there will be no Carnival Parade in Rio de Janeiro.

The annual event, which is held in February, has been postponed indefinitely, another victim of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The samba schools involved had previously warned it would be difficult to organize a parade without an available vaccine.
“Carnival” attracts millions of visitors to Rio every year.  But, Brazil is one of the countries hardest hit by the pandemic with 4.5 million infections and nearly 140-thousand deaths.
