In a rare televised address Wednesday evening, Canada’s Prime Minister confirmed the second wave of COVID-19 is already underway in the country’s four biggest provinces.

Justin Trudeau told fellow Canadians, Thanksgiving gatherings in parts of the country are a write-off, but if we double down on public health guidelines like wearing masks, physically distancing and reducing contact with others, Christmas might be possible.
He also provided an answer for those concerned the government is spending too much on recovery efforts.
“Low interest rates mean we can afford it, and in fact doing less would end up costing far more,” Trudeau explained, “Doing less would mean a slower recovery and bigger deficits in the long run. While we’re dealing with this pandemic, I don’t want you, or your parent, or your friend to take on debt that your government can better shoulder.”
In response, Conservative Deputy Leader Candice Bergen said “the prime minister needs to know that when the government racks up debt, it’s the people who are going to have to pay it.”
But NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh says there’s an easy solution to pay for the added expenses, “let’s say it clearly, we need a wealth tax.”
Singh also said his MPs will only vote in favour of the throne speech and avoid an election if some conditions are met. That vote is scheduled to take place Thursday.
