Police are reminding cyclists, pedestrians and drivers to remember the rules of the roads, after a 16 year old boy was struck and killed by a transport truck while riding his bike in Mississauga.
It happened in the area of Dixie and Dundas about 10:45 Tuesday morning.
Peel Region Police Constable Sarah Patten reviews the basics.
“We do encourage cyclists or pedestrians or anyone because this is an intersection,” Patton said at the scene of the fatal collision, “to ensure they are following the rules of the road, that they are crossing when they’re supposed to be crossing. We do encourage cyclists to please get off your bikes and walk across the road, make eye contact with drivers. We also encourage our drivers to pay attention to possible pedestrians at every intersection and just ensure that everyone gets to their destination safely.”
Peel Police said Tuesday night, no charges had been laid and the driver of the transport truck is cooperating with investigators.
