We Canadians are now into the sixth month of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Against this backdrop, a new Angus Reid survey suggests one in five Canadians is making little to no effort to stop the spread of the new coronavirus.
Research suggests nearly half of the population (47%), labelled as infection fighters, are following virus suppression behaviours carefully.
Those labelled as inconsistent (36%) represent just over a third of Canadians and take a more half-in, half-out approach to flattening the curve.
The remaining one in five (18%) are so-called cynical spreaders who’ve expanded their social circles, don’t physically distance and are ambivalent toward hand washing and mask wearing.
Among the other key findings, older people are more compliant while younger Canadians are less likely to follow recommended protocols.
