The elected Ward 22 Scarborough-Agincourt politician has successfully convinced an Ontario Court of Appeal judge to put a hold on an earlier ruling by a panel of her colleagues that had kicked him from office.
Karygiannis will now try to convince the Supreme Court to hear his case.
He was first removed from office last November after the city clerk said his financial statements, filed as part of the 20-18 election campaign, showed he had overspent a strict limit by nearly $26,000.
Later that month Karygiannis got his seat back after a ruling by a Superior Court judge.
But a resident appealed and a panel of Ontario’s highest court agreed in June and Karygiannis was out a second time.
His next and final stop’s the Supreme Court, which only hears a limited number of cases every year.
