All new and renovated long-term care facilities in Ontario will have air-conditioning.
In making the promise Doug Ford says the government will provide ”dedicated funding” to ensure any existing homes without A-C, get it.
”That should have been done many years ago,” he added.
”I am 100% committed to seeing this though. No longer will the seniors and the staff have to suffer through the summer heat.”
Ford also reiterated its previously announced promise to spend $1.75-billion that’ll go toward 8,000 new long-term care beds and 12,000 redeveloped ones.
In addition, the government’s announced it’s relaxing some of the rules around visits.
As of today, anyone visiting a resident outside the facility will no longer need to prove they’ve taken a test within the previous two weeks.
A week today inside visits will be allowed for two-at-a-time, provided visitors tested negative in the previous two weeks.
