Canada has made the cut as the European Union announced its list of countries from where tourists will be welcomed as they begin to reopen their borders from the COVID-19 pandemic.
15 countries made the cut. That includes China, which has been given conditional entry.
Canada joins Algeria, Australia, Georgia, Japan, Montenegro, Morocco, New Zealand, Rwanda, Serbia, South Korea, Thailand, Tunisia, Uruguay that will be allowed into the Schengen open border area.
Notable omissions from the list include the U.S., Brazil and Russia, all nations still struggling to control their outbreaks.
The border could reopen as early as Wednesday. Member states will vote on the list Tuesday.
Those who made the list have infection levels that are at or below EU member states.
Europe closed its external borders in March as cases of COVID-19 on the continent began to grow exponentially.
