An undisclosed number of players with the Toronto Blue Jays and staff members have been infected with COVID-19.
This comes a week before the start of training camp ahead of a recently approved shortened, 60-game regular season that’s to start July 23 or 24.
Just last Friday, the Jays shutdown their spring training complex in Dunedin after a player displayed symptoms consistent with the coronavirus.
It’s unclear where the team plans to hold training camp and play home games this summer.
Meanwhile, Colorado Rockies Charlie Blackmon has become the first player identified as having tested positive.
He’s among three Rockies players said to be infected.
The Philadelphia Phillies have seven players who’ve tested positive but have not named them.
A few Seattle Mariners players have also caught it, though the team won’t say exactly how many.
And the Detroit Tigers say one player and one staff member’s tested positive.
