SCARBOROUGH AUTHOR WINS THE TRILLIUM

Scarborough author Tea Mutonji has joined the likes of Can Lit legends like Margaret Atwood, Alice Munro and Michael Ondaatje in winning the Trillium Book Award for her short story collection.

She says, “Shut up You’re Pretty,” is a collection of short stories about womanhood and was inspired by her encounters with other women in Scarborough.

Roxanna Bennett won the award for English poetry for her work, “Unmeaningable.”

The Trillium Book Award is Ontario’s top literary prize and comes with a $20,000 dollar cash award.

The Trillium Book Awards were established in 1987.
