Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for much of southern Ontario with “extreme heat” expected today and tomorrow.
The agency says temperatures will be in the low 30s with humidex values reaching the mid-to-high 30s.
The city of Toronto has opened 14 cooling centres for residents and they are asked to wear a mask when accessing the service.
Officials say extreme heat poses risks for everyone, but especially young children, pregnant women, older adults, people working outdoors and those with chronic illnesses.
The good news; tropical depression Cristobal will approach Ontario tomorrow night and should cool things down.
